- Ideal for long-stemmed flowers like lilies or sunflowers. Flowers also look good cut shorter so their heads are inside the vase - tulips are great for this. If your stems are too short for the vase you can add coloured stones or marbles to the bottom, or scrunched-up cellophane, before you add the flowers. To change the look, stick double-sided sticky tape round the outside, and wrap it in gift paper or fabric to match your flowers.
